Successful celebrities and brands are clearly emotionally anchored in the minds of consumers - they often embody archetypes. Archetypes, such as the Hero or Seducer, are based on some of the deepest, most ancient motifs and desires of human beings. They exercise a strong hold on humans and have a high recognition value. Brands and celebrities can successfully use these effects to differentiate themselves from their competitors by positioning themselves archetypally. The integration of archetypes and archetypal designs are a particularly popular and effective tool to increase the success of storytelling that builds a brand and generates ROI.

The cpi-Archetypes-Map makes these archetypes measurable for brands and celebrities. It is based on the six basic traits of human beings: temperament, uniqueness, attractiveness, confidence, reliability, and vitality.

Our cpi-Archetypes-Map supports brand managers in building a clear archetypal positioning using celebrities. Artist managers can use it to both position their talent and to identify and win suitable advertising partners.

How the cpi-Archetypes-Map was Developed

For a long time, marketing decision makers and artist managers lacked a valid empirical tool that would support them in the archetypal management of their brands. That is why cpi CELEBRITY PERFORMANCE developed the cpi-Archetypes-Map.

The starting point was personality profiles collected in empirical studies of more than 150 celebrities providing more than 20,000 evaluations. Using multidimensional scaling and the 29 personality traits, a universal space to position brands and celebrities was developed. This positioning space, known as the cpi-Archetypes-Map, can be divided into six basic traits based on the positioning of personality traits: temperament, uniqueness, attractiveness, trustfulness, reliability, and vitality. In the cpi-Archetypes-Map, the eleven universal archetypes are then clearly located based on descriptive personality characteristics and traits.
